MIKE EADES
I started playing in 1969 with the Mossley junior band and graduated into the senior band within a couple of years. The first contest I played at was at Belle Vue in 1971, and the test piece was Force of Destiny talk about in at the deep end! My musical education progressed under the tutelage of the great Walter Davies at Ashton-under-Lyne Grammar, and I took my A level at the tender age of 16. It was then I decided to keep music as a hobby and I have enjoyed playing with many bands over the years, highlights being a time at Mossley with Derek Ashmore as conductor, and a spell at Stalybridge in the late 1970's.I currently play Soprano cornet with the Tintwistle band in Derbyshire.
I arranged the solo for myself initially as the band library has only a sparse selection of Soprano solos, and I first played it at a concert in St. Mary's church in Hollingworth in 2003. The arrangement has been chosen by the band as the title track for their shortly to be released CD which is under production by Wax Audio.
